With its digital presentation of the Chiron Super Sport just a few days ago, Bugatti presented its idea of a sleek, comfortable and high-performance hyper sport. Visitors and fans of the French luxury brand can now experience the fastest member of the Chiron family for the first time at the Milano Monza Outdoor Auto Show.
The new Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is synonymous with comfort and luxury along with even more performance and higher speeds. With its 8.0-litre W16 engine, the gran turismo with a power of 1,600 hp can reach a top speed of 440 km/h (273 mph). The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport sprints from 0 to 200 km/h in 5.8 seconds, and from 0 to 300 km/h in 12.1 seconds. For these speeds, Michelin developed a special Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires that are the only tires in the world allowed to run at 500 km/h.
At the same time, the 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport represents the longitudinal dynamic part of Bugatti's performance spectrum, a counterpart to the Chiron Pur Sport, which was made for lateral agility.
Particularly striking about the Chiron Super Sport is its rear, which is extended by 25 centimetres. A special feature of the Chiron Super Sport are its exhaust air holes in the front fenders. Instead of angular tailpipes in the middle, the exhaust gases of the Chiron Super Sport come from two superimposed double pipes.
This will also mark the first public appearance of the Bugatti Bolide4, an experimental vehicle that Bugatti digitally introduced in the fall of 2020.
According to Bugatti, deliveries will start at the beginning of 2022. Bugatti wants to build 30 copies, with taxes the Chiron Super Sport will cost almost $3.8 million excluding taxes. The first sales contracts have already been established.
For the typical driver, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport will usually remain just an unattainable dream. Nevertheless, it is fascinating to see what peak performance such cars are capable of today.
